The author of this book draws a caricature of the knight errant through themiserable experience of the mad Don Quixote. You see, it's the mill windmill,but he thinks it's a giant with three heads and six arms. So he urges the horsespear to rush away, but it's thrown to the ground and can't move. Even so, whenthe servant Sancho came to tell him again that it was not a giant but awindmill, he argued that it was the magician who turned the giant into awindmill. There are countless such actions, which are very funny and makereaders laugh again and again. Don Quixote was a little squire who was fascinated by reading Knights'novels all day. He imitated the ancient knights and went out to adventure anddid many ridiculous things. Although he is crazy, he hates tyranny and crueltyand opposes oppression. You see, once, his horse was injured by a group ofporters. Regardless of the other side's more than 20 people, he resolutelyfought with the other side and was finally knocked down to the ground. If I seemore than 20 men holding sticks, I'm sure I'm not brave enough to go out. I'lleither admit my misfortune or run away. And Don Quixote, knowing that the enemyis strong and we are weak, is still fighting for justice in the end. This spiritis really worth learning. Don Quixote is also very charitable, sympathizing withthe weak and upholding justice. Once, he caught a wronged prisoner. In order tolet him go, he reconciled and beat him once, although at last many prisoners ranaway.
Don Quixote is a complex and contradictory man. He has some other badhabits. He thinks he's right and doesn't listen to others' advice. Sangqiuadvised him not to cut down the windmill, but he didn't listen. At last, he waslifted up by the windmill and hurt. He was nervous again. When he saw a mancoming to him, he thought that the other side was going to fight him, so hekilled the other side with a knife.
The first time I read _Don Quixote_, I wanted to laugh, and did ridiculousthings for Don Quixote. The second time I read it, I wanted to cry, for thedomineering of aristocratic gentlemen and the ups and downs of ordinary third time will naturally think from these cries and smiles. Nowadays, I should say, people have realized the importance of environmental protection and ecological balance. If we pay a little attention to our working and study places, we always find some taps half opened with running water, and large numbers of people get used to leave lights on during the day. Not long ago I just read the English version of _Diary of Anne Frank._ In fact, this is not the first time I read this book. When I first read it in elementary school, and read the Chinese version. Then still small, still can not read, that means nothing. Now it seems there feeling very deeply.
Anne Frank was a Jewish girl. She could and ordinary girl, living a happy life, but she was not hiding different parents attic. Anne all day hiding in dark little attic to escape the Nazi's killing. She could not get close to nature, can not be friends like before play. In the shadow of the shadow of death, Anne only keep a diary to get through tough every day. For her, the diary as her friends, her only friends can rely on and talk. Sense and Sensibility was the first Jane Austen published. The story revolves around the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne. Whereas the former is a sensible, rational creature, her younger sister is wildly romantic--a characteristic that offers Austen plenty of scope for both satire and compassion. Commenting on Edward Ferrars, a potential suitor for Elinor's hand, Marianne admits that while she _loves him tenderly,_ she finds him disappointing as a possible lover for her sister.
Soon however, Marianne meets a man who measures up to her ideal: Mr. Willoughby, a new neighbor. So swept away by passion is Marianne that her behavior begins to border on the scandalous. Then Willoughby abandons her; meanwhile, Elinor's growing affection for Edward suffers a check when he admits he is secretly engaged to a childhood sweetheart. How each of the sisters reacts to their romantic misfortunes, and the lessons they draw before coming finally to the requisite happy ending forms the heart of the novel. Though Marianne's disregard for social conventions and willingness to consider the world well-lost for love may appeal to modern readers, it is Elinor whom Austen herself most evidently admired; a truly happy marriage, she shows us, exists only where sense and sensibility meet and mix in proper measure.

Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.
As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. ―I‖, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.
On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.
Traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. At that time a fox appears. The fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word ―tame‖, becomes his new friend. At the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. From that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.
At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’s advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. ―It’s too far. I can not carry this body with me. It’s too heavy.‖ he said. He tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. At the end the author doesn’t tell us the ending directly. Maybe it’s more significant for us to imagine, and for more, think over.
One of the important characters is the rose. Growing on the planet, she is very beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot. In spite of they love each other, he soon becomes unhappy. On the time of his departure, he just knows she certainly loves him. The character of the little prince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds. On the contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, the businessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in the grown-up’s world. The real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, I guess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but not others ―matters of consequence‖ of the grown-ups.
Unbelievable, this little book moved me a lot. I seldom think about the true meaning of love and life before. Well, now I can say, with my short sixteen-year’s life experience, it’s like the stars in the sky that lit my heart. The little prince is not only an ordinary fairy-tale for children, but also for grown-ups, and our teenagers. Nevertheless, when I read this book, I feel a little sad – about ourselves, whom are losing more and more innocence.

Don Quixote was a declining aristocrat. He was addicted to Knights' novelsand became obsessed with them. He found a pair of armor and rode on a skinny oldhorse. He began his imaginary journey of supporting justice and wandering theJianghu. He is a pure and stubborn idealist, living in fantasy. In other words,he is a completely stubborn lunatic. He regarded windmills as giants, sheep asenemies, convicts as knights, and a common village woman as his hit the wall, often head broken blood but unswervingly, 's his servant sangqiu, who is fat and timid and greedy for a small price, whois still a normal man with flesh and blood. He will take advantage of hismaster's craziness and paranoia, play a little cleverness, and seize theopportunity to increase some benefits for himself. He is a real living man. Justlike this, two other living treasures, a pair of unimaginable masters andservants, staged a funny farce for us. One of the most amusing scenes is that inthe dark night, sangqiu is afraid to hold his master's thigh all the time anddare not give up. However, he is eager to describe courteously, which is reallyvivid and vivid.
The most touching ones in the book are some of Don Quixote's good never give up on Old Tang. They must try their best to cure his have used violent means - to put the old Tang in a cage and escort him homewith arms; they have used the means of burning books and _pit_ Confucianism - toburn all the Knights' novels in the old Tang family and even seal the study;they have used the means of concealing the sky and the sea - to pretend to be aknight, to pretend to be a princess in distress and so on, all in order to pullthe old Tang from fantasy to reality. They really mean to their friends,especially for such a _terminally ill_ crazy friend. They didn't give up, andeven were wrongly wounded and beaten by old Tang. Life can have such a fewfriends, enough!
Ijust don't know the background of the times. I don't know what theintention of this episode is that some sangqiu, who was governor of the islandfor several days, handled several cases cleanly and fairly, but was forced toresign at last.

i've just fininshed reading the first 4 harry potter books for about the 5th time through, and they're just as magical and affecting as they have ever been. everything is in here: suspense, adventure, mystery, humour, danger. there's even some pretty satisfying paybacks. the characters are fantastic and fantastically realistic. there are bad people who turn out to be good guys and good people who turn out to be bad guys, just like life.
i think the thing i like best about these books is the message that it's okay to be different - to be not _normal._ i would love for everyone in school to have hear that message. it would probably reduce the bullying around the school.
these books value real thoughts. much has been made of harry's rule breaking, but only once in the series so far does he break a rule for arbitrary personal gain. most of the time he makes a decision that what's right is more important than what's written. and you know what? life's like that sometimes. i think it's great that kids are getting an example of how to do what's right even when it involves breaking rules. the potter books also show that there are consequences for rule breaking. if not getting caught and getting a detention, then a spell going wrong and someone getting turned into a cat. this shows that when you make a decision to go against the rules that things may not go as you expected and you have to take responsibility for the outcome.

the adventures of tom sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author mark twain. tom sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the mississippi river called st. petersburg. the story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in tom sawyer's life.
tom sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as dennis the menace, malcolm in the middle, and calvin and hobbs. what makes this story great is that tom sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. the book is filled with tom's adventures playing pirates and war with his friend joe harper. tom has a trusted friend, huck finn, who few of the adults approve of. the book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. it is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. the whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did during their childhood.
the book is a little difficult to read at first. personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. other than referring to persons of african decent in derogatory terms (which i'm sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. i highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

A Little Princess is a touching novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett—a famous novelist and dramatist. It obviously contains lots of fancied plots, but the parts it talks about creating miracles, can really reach the bottom of my heart. The book can bring me into a world that is more than reality while reading it. The extraordinary story makes me ponder a lot and gives me a deep impression that every girl can be a princess.
In my opinion, it is impossible for every rich girl to act like a well-behaved princess, but Sara, the heroine of the novel, did it! She was an imaginative little girl who had such intelligent small face and such perfect manners. Sara was a very nice girl who had a gentle, appreciative ways of saying, such as “If you please” “Thank you” which was very charming. So, not only her teachers and classmates liked her, but also her servants liked her.
There was a time when Sara became a poor and pitiful servant insulted by the snobbish headmaster of the school. In spite of this, she had never complained to anyone about the horrible suffering she had endured. Sara was confident, brave, optimistic and kind-hearted just like before and she had never given up her enthusiasm of life. No matter when, Sara acted like a princess, and on account of this, she had accomplished a great deal of miracles over and over again.
After reading this outstanding book, I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life. What impresses me most is that Sara put on her act of being a princess when she wore thin bottom shoes, wading in the street of London. From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring.
Truly, every girl is a princess coming into common life. The “princess” I mean is not a princess living in the palace and being regarded as the apple of everyone’s eye. As the matter of fact, the “princess” is at heart. I am in the belief that every ordinary girl in the world can be a princess. The way for a girl to be a princess is quite simple. Just suppose!
You can suppose yourself to be a princess, and go about your business confidently without caring how the others would treat you. If you want to have more resemblance to a princess, be more kind and try your best to help the people in need. The most important thing you are supposed to do is that to feel like a real princess at any occasion, particularly when you are involved with enormous melancholy.
Do not feel the conditions you faced are extremely wretched and attempt to get rid of the feeling of hopelessness and uneasiness. The less you look like a princess, the more you need to feel like a princess at heart.

It is natural to see death in a war. As a famous Chinese parable says, “A life can be as slight as a piece of feather, or as weighty as Mount Tai.” Sometimes, one’s glory walks hand in hand with one’s doom. Achilles was such a typical person. His personal charm made The Story of Troy more attractive. He was so crucial because his every appearance in a war encouraged his fellow soldiers and terrified the enemies. Actually, Achilles was half-god who was almost invincible in people’s mind. I've read this twice. The first time I rushed through it just to find out who was the _victim._ Yeah. Wasn't really surprised about that. I'm sure a few people are thinking it was a serious mistake to off our lamented victim, but honestly, I wasn't really enthused at having to slog through this book.
I understand that this is covering the adolescent years of young Mr. Potter, but the whole teenage angst thing came out of nowhere. There should've been some hints as far back as _Chamber_ but instead, we have four years of pent-up hormones come flooding out of the page. It is overwhelming at times, a feeling made worse when you realize that there wasn't a big plot; if anything, this was written partially for contract, partially to continue the story （I, personally, could have lived without the whole Hagrid/Grawp subplot, not to mention 50% of Dolores Umbridge, who herself is part pun, part metaphor, yet neither part really does anything but make one groan）。
But one thing to be said, there is growing tension and suspense in the book, which is written and intended--if we remember for a moment and think （perhaps somewhat na-iv-ely）--for young adults and not those of us with seasoned palates. This is why the book deserves a high rating; to me--and to many individuals over the age of, say, 16--this isn't a great novel. But it is an excellent novel for the young adult crowd and anyone who wants a mystery/fantasy/pseudo-thriller with characters who are reaching the genesis of their development. We may not like the person Harry becomes or the browbeating attitude of Umbridge or Ron's jealousy rearing its head at odd turns, but it is a realistic portrayal of adolescent confusion and angst, of the tendency for some individuals in today's society to repreinformation and punish anyone who tries to resist the _system._
Yes, this is a heavy-handed statement, but this book is a metaphor as much as it is a fantasy. Remember, the Harry Potter series is desgined as an arc, so we naturally have to have the stage set for the final two books in the saga.
Hardcore Potter fans will enjoy this. Anyone expecting a great epic, however, will be disappointed because of their misconceptions.
