Some people think the university education is to prepare students for employment. While we admit that preparation for employment is an important function of education, it is not the only one. We should see this issue with an all-sided view. In the perspective of society, education is for improvement. Students make use of what they have learned to create new theories and tools. This is the way in which our human society develops. And also, through education, government can teach people how to be appropriate citizens, thus in this way, people’s moralities and behaviors are constrained in a value system and the social stability can be maintained.
In the perspective of individuals, education can enrich personal lives. Through education, we can explore different cultures and customs. Thus in this way education can open our eyes and broaden our mind. And education can also meet interests of each student.
While of course, all the functions mentioned above have one common prerequisite: one can make a living in the first place. For this society is practical, many university students have studied for four years, but their ability to deal with practical things is too low to be acceptable. So education should provide the basic general knowledge to university students, so that they can be get employed and make a living. And if a nation wants to develop and to compete with xxxer nations, it needs skilled workers to support economic development and to maintain the people creative, which can only be achieved through education.
So it has some sense to realize that students’ preparation for employment is the function of education, but it has far more function which should not be neglected.

The discussion about whether English becoming a global language has brought us more benefits than risks is a very controversial one. People can hardly reach a consensus on this issue. Before presenting my view, I would like to explore bxxx sides of the argument.
It is very clear that English as a global language has brought us enormous benefits in all aspects of society, which has greatly promoted our economic development. To begin with, as a tool of cross-cultural communication, English promotes mutual understanding and friendship, removing prejudice and h123lity. It is no exaggeration to say that English helps maintain the world peace. Moreover, English offers us a good opportunity to learn from developed countries. For instance, China, a developing country, is in great need of advanced knowledge and technology. English as a global language removes the language barriers for us, so that we can introduce foreign experts to our country more conveniently
However, it can not be denied that English also exerts a negative influence on our human civilization. Since English becomes a dominant language, a large number of indigenous languages are on the verge of extinction, which poses potential risks to the cultural diversity. Just imagine, if everyone in the world looks the same, speaks the same, and thinks the same, our world will become a homogenous one. How terrible it is! It is widely accepted that language is the vehicle of culture, so killing language equals killing culture. In doing so, we erase whole histories and bury entire stories, the richness of which the world loses forever.
Obviously, English like anything else, has more than one face. Its advantages should never keep us from their drawbacks. From my perspective, English and xxxer languages can go side by side with each xxxer, each shinning more brilliantly in the xxxer’s company.

Some people think that it is better for a child to grow up in the countryside than in the city, xxxers disagree. Discuss bxxx views, and give your own opinion.
Some people think healthcare should be made free for all people, while xxxers believe people should pay for healthcare by themselves. Discuss bxxx views and give your own opinion.
More and more small and privately-owned shops in town and villages are closing, more and more large shops open to the countries. What are the reasons for this situation? is it a positive or negative development?
Nowadays, we can ship the food or fruits which are out of season to xxxer countries does this practice waste time and money and totally unnecessary. Discuss bxxx sides and what is your opinion.
Some people think that all school students should learn a foreign language. Others think that a student should not be required to learn a foreign language if he or she does not have talent for it. Discuss bxxx these views and give your own opinion.
Many top universities are providing online courses to the student as an alternative of on campus as anyone can have access to them. Do you think it is positive or negative development?
Many people think that the government should pay the tuition fees for all adults who interested in university studies. Do you agree or disagree?

In this time and age, it is conceivable that children bear heavy pressure from education, social life and commercial respect. This tendency involves several factors and I would elaborate on them as follows.
The most rooted one lies in the fiercer competition in the society. It is ubiquitous that the modern world is a one replete with competition. In an attempt to survive and attain success in future life, children are required to be accustomed to competing with peers in various situations, ranging from academic performance to personal skills. Besides, most parents place higher expectation on their children, urging them to study harder and diminishing their time on entertainment. Obviously, under such circumstance, excessive stress is imposed on children.
Anxxxer factor is that children should follow certain rules to be acceptable by xxxers. Although sometimes they do not quite approve of perspectives or values of peers, they are not allowed to behave aggressively and even conceal their true feeling to maintain a stable and close friendship. In regard to the culprit of commercial pressure, intensive advertising campaigns should be blamed for. Toys and snacks are depicted attractive and tasty in TV commercials; consequently, it is difficult for children to resist the temptation and they tend to require parents to purchase those products. However, the fact is that the result is often contrary to their expectations.
In order to relieve children from high pressure, several effective measures are supposed to be adopted. First and foremost, children themselves had better to adjust their attitude towards exams or competition in schools. To be specific, composure and optimism are essential elements they should be equipped with when encountering challenges. In addition, parents’ encouragement and guidance rather than undue requirements serve the better purpose. Furthermore, government should play a regulatory role in advertising aimed at children, applying the power to censoring the content of commercials.
In conclusion, although it is regarded as a normal phenomenon in the wake of social development, children who are continuously under pressure are likely to suffer from mental diseases. Therefore, children, parents as well as the authority should make concerted efforts to address this issue.

Nature or Nurture?
While many individuals complain that they are not sufficiently clever to succeed in life, I firmly believe that personality and development are decided more by education and training after birth than any given gene.
To begin with, environment is a determining factor of one\'s personality. One may think that personality is already shaped once a baby is born, but in fact there are many contributing factors. The baby, for instance, would most likely be pessimistic if he or she lived in a poor family, where the baby always received punishment from his parents. His view of life would be very different from anxxxer individual who lived happily in a perfect nurturing family with encouragement and psychological support from his parents.
Further, education after birth plays a significantly role in one\'s development. Education, which helps children develop their thinking and accumulate their knowledge, is a deciding factor of one\'s success. For example, a high-school level person commonly may not to the extent of a person who has received an university education. This is not only because of the greater breadth of knowledge acquired, but also due to a more critical and focused way of thinking that is imparted and refined during ones senior education. A wolf child, to offer anxxxer instance, due to a deficiency of education by contact with human beings, could hardly live in our society or self-develop.
Admittedly, nature, decided by the genes given by one\'s parents, also affects one\'s personality and development. One can clearly find differences among younger kids in their learning ability, which could prove the importance of genes in this regard. However, when compared with xxxer factors after birth, the role genes play in one\'s personality and development may not be particularly significant. Not all genius will inevitably be successful, and similarly not all great men are genius in their childhood. Therefore, I hold that environment and education after birth weigh heavier than nature in regard to one\'s personality and development.
Compete or cooperate?
Bxxx competition and cooperation play a large role in the advancement of society, bxxx in business and non-business areas. Competition forces people to improve their products or services, and hence benefits the recipients of these products or services. Cooperation, however, plays an even more important role in development of individuals and the society as a whole, because it drastically increases the scale of these improvements. Working in groups and teams far increases the productivity of individuals. Thus, I firmly believe children should be taught to cooperate rather than to compete.
First of all, cooperation is an important skill in the future life of all children. They will need to live with xxxer people throughout their life, since they will not study alone, work alone, nor spend their leisure time alone. If they do not know how to cooperate with their classmates, their colleagues, and xxxer family members, then they will lose the chance to live happily. Thus, cooperation skills should be taught before they grow up to face serious problems living with xxxers.
Furthermore, cooperation is a significant contributing factor to the development of society. While competition generally ends in a win-lose result, cooperation advocates that one plus one is larger than two, three or even a larger number. For example, the competition of two business firms would ultimately lead to the result that one becomes stronger and the xxxer fails and goes out of business. However, if they cooperate with each xxxer successfully, they may group together to form an enterprise larger than the mere sum of the two. The more successful cooperation there is, the better the society develops. Thus, cooperation should be taught to children, because eventually they will be the executives of important corporations.
Admittedly, competition also plays a significant role in many areas. Stressed by the competition, individuals and organizations have to struggle to survive, and so they are forced to make improvements and develop.
However, in comparison, cooperation is more effective in helping individuals and societies to develop, because it benefits not only individuals, but also society as a whole. The reality is that children should be taught bxxx, but if forced to choose only one, parents should undoubtedly teach their kids to cooperate rather than to compete
Write about the following topic:
More and more qualified people are moving from poor to rich countries to fill vacancies in specialist areas like engineering, computing and medicine. Some people believe that by encouraging the movement of such people, rich countries are stealing from poor countries. Others feel that this is only part of the natural movement of workers around the world.
Do you agree or disagree?
Model Answer:
The so-called ‘brain drain’ from poor to rich countries is now robbing poorer countries of essential personnel like doctors, nurses, engineers, and the trend is set to continue, if not to get worse.
Some people say this movement of people around the world is not a new phenomenon. Migrant workers have always been attracted by the wider choice of employment and greater opportunity in major cities in their own countries and abroad. Recently, as the technological age has advanced and as richer countries find themselves with not enough workers to feed their development, they have had to run to xxxer parts of the world to find the necessary manpower. Many richer European countries, for example, are now trying to attract skilled IT workers from my home country India by offering higher salaries than they could hope to earn at home. With the globalisation of the world economy, many people feel that the process cannot be stopped.
Others, myself included, are of the opinion that measures should be taken to address the problem, by compensating poorer countries financially for the loss of investment in the people they have trained, like doctors and nurses. Admittedly, this may be cumbersome to administer, but an attempt could be made to get it off the ground. Anxxxer step, which in part has already begun to happen, is to use the forces of globalization itself. Western countries could encourage people to stay in their own countries by direct investment in projects like computer factories or by sending patients abroad for treatment, as is already happening.
It is obviously difficult to restrict the movement of people around the world and it is probably foolish to try to stop it, but attempts should be made to redress the imbalance.

Parents generally believe it is their responsibility to plan the careers for their children. They claim that they know their children well enough to decide what kind of job suits them. Hoping that their children will go in for professions that will bring them the greatest prestige and economic benefit, many parents think that their children are too young to see this for themselves. There are some parents who even expect their children to take over the careers of their fathers. For these reasons, many parents insist that theirchildren should obey them in choosing careers.
But many children suggest that they should be left free to choose their own careers. For one thing, parents and children may not share the same interest. A job that appeals is likely to be boring for their children. For anxxxer, children have been brought up in a different age from their parents’, and therefore, should be allowed to cultivate a spirit of independence and self-reliance. In short, children should be free to make their own decisions as to future careers.
In my opinion, in this case as in many xxxer things, mutual understanding is important. On the one hand, parents’ view does reflect theirconcern for the well-being of their children. On the xxxer hand, after all it is the children who will be doing the jobs. Therefore, it will be wise for parents to give them this freedom while for the children they should consult their parents when it is necessary. (249 words).

Some people think that advertising may have positive economic effects, while xxxers think that advertising has social effects because individuals are not satisfied with who they are. They discuss two views and give your opinion + 9 brainstorming. When it comes to the effect of advertising, some people think that advertising can promote, but xxxers think that on the one hand, advertising may produce some social effects, such as psychology Imbalance, advertising can stimulate consumers to buy more goods and promote economic growth.
Therefore, people realize that the purpose of advertising is to introduce the characteristics and characteristics of products to consumers through television, radio, Internet and xxxer channels. When consumers see some new items in advertisements, some of them will decide to buy these new products to meet their needs. Such purchase behavior will help manufacturers to obtain more profits and expand their industry On the xxxer hand, advertising does have some negative social effects.
At present, many well-known and even luxury brands spend a lot of money on advertising to make them more influential among consumers. However, for the poor, they may not be able to afford any luxury goods they see in advertisements. The fact that some consumers, especially poor consumers, are ignored by these brands can explain why they do not Satisfaction.
From my personal point of view, these economic and social effects of advertising exist at the same time. If consumers only regard advertising as a source of information for new products, if consumers are envious of the numbers in advertisements and complain about their low quality of life, economic development will be promoted. In order to avoid such negative consequences, the government needs to filter out some _no_ in advertisements Appropriate content, for example, some advertisements suggest that life can be boring and boring if one does not pay for recommended items.
Therefore, the government needs to better regulate advertising to reduce this negative impact.

Which kind of courses should universities provide: theoretical knowledge or practical training? Some people prefer the later one and assert that the practical training can benefit our society. Personally, I strongly disagree with their point of view for three reasons.
Among countless factors which influence my propensity, there is a most conspicuous one: practical experience should be accumulated in society, not in universities. I can think of no better illustration than the saying: “society is anxxxer kind of university”.Literarily, in society people can study practical knowledge as well as studying theoretical knowledge in universities. Besides, campus is full of academic atmosphere, and there is Idontknowlly different from the circumstance in society. Thus, it is difficult for students to accumulate the real practical experience in campus.
The second aspect relates to the importance of theoretical knowledge. Apparently, it would seem that some academic subjects, such as mathematics or sociology, cannot benefit companies or society directly. In fact, however, they are the basis of practical subjects, such as management or finance. For example, it is almost impossible to talk of economics without mentioning the fundamental roles played by statistics and mathematics.
Furthermore, universities are where theoretical knowledge is handed down from generation to generation. As we know, form Oxford University to Yale University, from Beijing University to MIT, universities congregate a lot of preeminent scholars and professors whose main jobs are the academic research. They are responsible to impart the academic knowledge to the young generation in case of they are faded from our memory.
In summary, from what has been discussed above, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that the theoretical courses are not as obsolete, profitless and unimportant as some people believed. And our universities should be responsible to provide the theoretical knowledge

题目:Some people believe that job satisfaction is more important than job security. Others believe that people cannot always enjoy their jobs and that a permanent job is more important. Discuss bxxx views and give your own opinion.
It is true that seeking for a decent job is not as easy as decades ago due to the economic recession and competitive job market. Although some may argue that a sense of satisfaction towards their jobs is crucial, personally, I believe that a permanent job is more meaningful.
On the one hand, a permanent job can guarantee to meet employee’s basic needs. This is because almost no one can escape from the reality. Everyday, we are facing with a variety of expenses, such as food, shelter, transport, bill and even education tuition for children. With a relatively stable job, people, especially those in middle aged can cover most expenses. In addition, those who stay in the same company or institute are more likely to get a promotion as they show the loyalty towards their company. However, those who change their jobs frequently may meet unintended outcomes. For example, they may find difficult to support themselves and raise their family members.
On the xxxer hand, those advocates for pursuing a job they love might regard job satisfaction as the priority when finding an employment. They believe only working with friendly colleagues and employers and under a flexible working time schedule, can they fulfill their potential and accomplish all tasks well. However, this idea is unrealistic. For example, dozens of young graduateshave the bitter result because of their immature thought, that is unemployment.
In my opinion, there is no perfect job in the world. The only thing we can do is to find a suitable job rather than a perfect one. There is a 10,000 hours theory in psychology thatpeople who devotethemselves to jobs and spend more than 10,000 hours constantly can become experts in that field. This theory tells us a plain fact that no one can achieve a sense of job satisfaction without years of efforts and persistence.
In conclusion, people having a constant job are more likely to have a promising job career and wellbeing.

It is true that people in industrialised nations can expect to live longer than ever before. Although there will undoubtedly be some negative consequences of this trend, societies can take steps to mitigate these potential problems.
As people live longer and the populations of developed countries grow older, several related problems can be anticipated. The main issue is that there will obviously be more people of retirement age who will be eligible to receive a pension. The proportion of younger, working adults will be smaller, and governments will therefore receive less money in taxes in relation to the size of the population. In xxxer words, an ageing population will mean a greater tax burden for working adults. Further pressures will include a rise in the demand for healthcare, and the fact young adults will increasingly have to look after their elderly relatives.
There are several actions that governments could take to solve the problems described above. Firstly, a simple solution would be to increase the retirement age for working adults, perhaps from 65 to 70. Nowadays, people of this age tend to be healthy enough to continue a productive working life. A second measure would be for governments to encourage immigration in order to increase the number of working adults who pay taxes. Finally, money from national budgets will need to be taken from xxxer areas and spent on vital healthcare, accommodation and transport facilities for the rising numbers of older citizens.
In conclusion, various measures can be taken to tackle the problems that are certain to arise as the populations of countries grow older.

Tuning to the BBC or CNN, one is besieged by (news about) formidable disasters, diseases, conflicts, and controversies. But none is more challenging than the shortage of fresh water, a source which has long been mistakenly assumed to be inexhaustible. Unfortunately, few people realize the impending (急迫的)potential catastrophe (灾难)arising from the insufficient fresh water. Governments must be blamed if they have not informed people the importance of fresh water.
Fresh water has been closed associated with life, not only the life of human beings, but also the life of all kinds of plants and animals. Lacking fresh water, the earth will become ill. Nevertheless, human beings are confronted with the crisis of insufficient fresh water.
The shortage of fresh water can be attributed to the lower efficiency in water utilization. The irrigation in many countries wastes overwhelmingly. Some developing countries still use the primitive irrigation system, which is believed to waste at least 70% fresh water.
Life water utilization also shows strikingly lower efficiency. Many citizens have no concept of saving water. In most cities in China, fresh water is used to flush lavatories. Moreover, most citizens use wash-machine, which consumes a larger volume of fresh water.
Besides, fresh water has been polluted by agriculture and industry activities. Aquatic(水)ecosystem has largely been ruined by unrestricted drainage (排水)of sewages (污水). In metropolis (big cities大都市), the hospitals and laboratories are also the serious sources of water pollution.
Governments are expected to launch campaigns against water pollution. Individuals, households, and the states all should use their unique ways to save the limited resources.
Task:Some people think that the amount of noise people make have to be controlled strictly, xxxers say that people are free to make as much as they wish. Discuss bxxx sides and give your opinion.
Sample answer:
Have you ever annoyed by unexpected intrusions of noise that prevents your peaceful trips. Have you exposed to bursts of noise when you work on one task. Have you felt tired of living with chronic city noise day after believe every individual prefer a peaceful and quiet environment to a noisy one.
It is imperative for the government to strictly control the amount of noise in our life. First, a survey can prove my stand, compared with students who attended schools in quiet neighborhoods, the counterparts attended schools near noisy airport are liable to suffer from distraction. Also, the debate reminds me of my experience, as a columnist,I take pleasure in creating new essays in a café and I pay high price for a quiet environment, however, there are, sometimes, two inane babblers to break the silence,I can hardly zero in on work under noisy circumstances . Last, when I made a self-travel in England, I found that all travelers voluntarily switched phones to silent, turned stereos off and kept chatter to a minimum. Conversely, in my city, some people never notice that they become nuisances by talking aloud, playing cell phone music in public. So, fining people for making a din will definitely dissuade the polluter and be proved to be a neat solution.
Others, however, think , some people argue that the noise might, at first , be quite annoying, however, people might do well at their tasks after a while because humans are capable of adjusting to a manifold noise levels. Further, some people may believe that making noise randomly is a basic right which can never be deprived. Hence, some people are in the habit of having a noisy party or loudly playing musical instrument at home, or constantly honking the horn when driving a car. What I am worried about is that the right of making noise might be abused.
Apparently, every government should be urged to reduce or eliminate the adverse effects of noise.
On Arbor Day, particular attention is drawn to the part trees play in our lives. It's not just a day to plant trees and then forget the gesture for anxxxer twelve months.
Planting a tree one day is no credit to us if, during the rest of the year, we neglect to care for it and those already growing. Our thought on Arbor Day should be an expression of enduring feeling, thought and action and not just one single, isolated flame of interest.
In schools and xxxer community groups, this day can be celebrated in many different ways.
·By planting trees or shrubs in school grounds, along neighbouring streets or in civic parks.
·By 'adopting' a patch of bush, with the landowner's consent, and caring for it by removal of weeds, rubbish, etc, by preparing firebreaks and by fencing and making paths to reduce trampling.
·By presenting a play or mime about trees in the history of Australia.
·By completing a project about certain types of trees (eg. jarrah, boab, karri) or a famous tree like the Gloucester Tree near Pemberton.
·As a class activity or common interest group go on a visit to a bush area with a spokesperson to explain the characteristics of plant species and their niche in the natural environment.
·Collect some tree seeds, germinate them in a classroom, and plant out the seedling.
·Carry out identification of trees in a specific part of your school or neighbourhood. A tree labelling ceremony could also be arranged.
·Compile a list of everyday objects that are made of wood or wood-based materials, and find out how the wood was processed, where it came from and whatever else you can.
Trees and shrubs, whether native or introduced to WA, provide opportunities for the interest and study by the whole community, and when we walk around our own neighbourhood or drive through the countryside, we can appreciate the importance of such a diversity of plants to the well being of humanity.
Panda is one of the scarcest animals. People in the world like it very much. there used to be many pandas in China long ago. As the balance of nature was destroyed and the weather was getting warmer and warmer, pandas became less. But at present, the number of pandas is increasing year by year. there are now so many pandas that some are being sent to xxxer countries so that people there can enjoy them. Nowadays, the biggest nature park for panda in China is in Sichuan. there is a research centre for nature and wild life there. Scientists hope that one day they will have enough pandas to be set free and let them live in the wild again.
Animals were friends or foes of humanity at different times of the human history. In modern times, experiments upon animals have long been a breeding ground for spirited debate. Some animal activists argue that we should ban animal experiments altogether because subjecting animals to experimentation is unjustifiable on moral grounds. Yet some xxxer people contend that the advancement of science necessitates animal testing. Personally, I believe bxxx their views have merit and demerit.
Granted, empirical evidence suggests that many animal experiments are performed callously without any heed to the discomfort or pain that laboratory mammals endure. First and foremost, improper confinement of test animals such as locking them up in cramped cages or poor veterinary is inhumane .It can gravely disrupt natural biological functions of the test animal. Further, the effects of vaccination and vivisection conducted on live rodents, primates and xxxer lab mammals can be gruesome and chilling. They may, in some cases, even constitute sheer torture of live animals.
However, from a more pragmatic perspective, evidence is mounting that animal experimentation is still largely a necessary evil and there is no practical alternative for it at this point. In the first place, it is manifest that drug experimentation on live mammals is far more effectual than experimentation on bacteria or on xxxer lower species in testing drug safety. Drugs that have severe potential side effects on homo sapiens must be tested by pharmaceutical companies on live mammals first to ascertain their toxicity. In the second place, in space research, live animals are still the only viable alternative to humans in testing living creature reaction to outer-space experience on a flight not considered to be sufficiently safe for human astronauts. Lastly, lab research about the behavioral tendencies of chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans and xxxer members of the primate group is also necessary. It produces valuable outcomes consistently advancing anthropological and genetic studies.
To conclude, I concede that experiments upon animals may induce suffering to the test animals. However, I am convinced that there are no feasible alternatives to this methodology at the current stage of scientific development. On balance , I think that we should allow animals testing to be continued but at the same time use techniques such as analgesic, anesthetic and tranquilizing drugs to minimize the pain inflicted upon the test animal and augment the general welfare of these animals.

Over the past century, science and technology has been developing unprecedentedly and changing every aspect of people's lives. In my point of view, technology brings about higher efficiency and greater convenience, even though it causes confusion and disorder under some circumstances.
The benefits of modern technologies are multiple. Automation is widely used on the assembly line, setting free millions of people from the arduous and repetitive to the widespread use of the Internet, people have easier access to information than ever before. Instead of going to the library to consult reference books, they can acquire any information they want via the Internet. Moreover, emails and mobile phones enable people to stay in touch more conveniently and efficiently, compared with the old days when they had to go to the post office or visit xxxers in person.
Despite the above-mentioned benefits,we cannot deny the fact that technology may lead to complexity and inconvenience in some cases. For instance, some old people find it difficult to use public facilities equipped with electronic-devices. However, this issue can be addressed with clear instructions provided. Anxxxer example is cyber fraud, which is difficult to prevent as the false information can spread very fast on the who get deceived may complain that the virtual space generates more crimes.
Overall, there is no denying that some problems and troubles may occur When various new technologies are applied to people's lives. However, returning to a simple life without technology is not a solution and I believe a better future of mankind lies with the further progress of science and technology.
When we read newspapers, our attention is always attracted by increasing unemployment rate in young graduates who are leaving college. In my opinion, there are many causes for this disquieting phenomenon and we should try to solve the problem.
Most companies would rather employ a low-educational specialized worker than a this-years graduate from a well-known university. For companies, they are more likely to choose the candidates with rich working experience. Apparently enough, the training for young graduates usually costs them a large quantity of time and money. In addition, the current education system brings on a lot of bookworms who are adept in theoretical but not practical knowledge. Therefore, it is hard for those graduates to complete the practical assignments successfully and smoxxxly. This is one major reason why many graduates find it to find suitable jobs.
Most senior citizens retire or no longer work full-time. They usually live in their own houses not far from their children's, while the children of a few senior citizens have gone abroad and work or study far beyond the oceans. For certain senior citizens, tile years after retirement are not very enjoyable. First, they feel that their lives lose meaning for being at home all day. In addition, they may feel lonely, especially those without children around. Moreover, they become more concerned with their health, as they grow older, and worry a lot about their safety. At the same time, many senior citizens enjoy their lives. They feel free to do things they were not able to do when they were working and raising their families. They spend their time travelling, doing exercises or watching TV. They get together with their fellow members who have the common interests and equal free time.
In fact, there are some still continuing their work, not just for money, but to show their value. However, no one really wants to be old, and perhaps all like to be young forever.
When designing a building, the most important factor is inside use of the building rather than its outside appearance. Do you agree or disagree?
Which is more important, function or appearance? This has always been a hot topic for so many years.
As people are becoming more and more practical, they pay great emphasis on functions of things. But when people are satisfied with material life, they have spiritual requirement. And aesthetics is one of their pursuits.
The basic requirement of a building is its inside use. No one buys a house that he cannot live in only to appreciate its appearance.
As I have said, modern people are practical, so we never do things that cannot benefit us. But with the new techniques and advanced tools, up until now, human beings have no problem to construct a building to satisfy our practical use, thus in this sense, on the basis of usefulness, we have a higher requirement of beautifulness.
That’s why our world has become more and more beautiful.
But it also depends on different cases. Buildings used for exhibition should not be the same with those used for residence. Great buildings for exhibitions or used as museums are art works themselves and worthy of our appreciating.
The most famous is Sydney Theatre. Many people visit it for its great beauty rather than enjoying concerts.
If the building is only for us to live in, then there is no necessity to invite a famous architect do design such an elegant house. Such buildings are also out of our purchasing power.
To sum up, the inside use and the appearance are bxxx very important. But it doesn’t mean that we should always give the same weight to the two. It should depend on concrete occasions.
The argument correctly states the importance of the governments and large businesses but underestimates the significance of individual human beings in the campaign against environmental problems.
Governments and large businessesplay positive rolesinmaking the earth healthierby reducing the amount of pollutants which humans put into the ocean, sea, river, lake, and atmosphere. The main functions of governments in this campaign are in the field of policy making and legislation. To make policy is to scientifically, effectively, and efficiently organize people, resources, and funds to improve the environments. In this glorious activity launched by man against nature businesses provide financial support in the form of donation and the like. P&G, HP, and IBM all contribute much annually in this concern.
While emphasizing the crucial functions of the governments and businesses, we should not be distracted from the vital roles every individual human being plays in this great and glorious global project. Children, adults, and the elders all are indispensable in cracking the hard nut of pollution and consumption of limited resources. In our dailyroutine, each human being is expected to save the electricity, water, and fossil fuels. For instance, a child is expected to switch off the light when leaving the classroom. In agricultural production, each farmer is supposed to use less pesticide and sufficiently protect the water and soil from erosion. In industrial activities, each employee should conduct his or her activity with environmental ethic concerning. If all people work together, struggle together, and pray together, we will win one day in the future. Yes, lets share the only dream in the diversified world.
In conclusion, if governments, businesses, and individuals all contribute to the environmental programs and projects, then we human beings will enjoy a healthier and happier life in this globe
IELTS Essay: Family History
In some parts of the world there is an increasing number of people trying to find out the history of their families. Why? Is this trend a positive or negative development?
Example writing:
What you can discover about the roots of your family is not likely to make headlines, but may be crucial in building a family tree that can be bxxx interesting and surprising. Trying to search a family history is a positive attitude toward something that you learn from and grow from it. Good or bad, one thing is sure: you cannot erase the past.
Some people are actually not interested to know their family roots. The thought of finding out how they end up where they are at the moment simply does not intrigue them enough. They think it is useless to get whatever information leading to who were they related to--great, great grand-parents, and great, great grand uncles and aunties. Hence, it seems that embarking on a project to create a family tree is not unlike digging the graves of the once-upon-a-time family members. Besides, they are convinced that there is nxxxing exciting or worthwhile about any serious research on family histories. This point of view is somehow understandable, considering the effort might turn out to be futile going through much trouble in vain to gather details about folks in ancient blood line long since buried and gone.
With the development of cities, more and more new buildings are appearing in the city. Some people claim that the government should ensure all the new buildings should be built in traditional styles. For me, I do not agree with this suggestion.
Undoubtedly, the old buildings can reflect our traditional culture and should be protected and built. They are the houses where the ancient people lived. By appreciating these old buildings, we can have a better understanding of our ancient culture and history.
However, I do not agree that all the new buildings should be built in traditional styles. First of all, a city’s culture identity consists of the past culture and the modern culture. While past culture can be represented by the traditional buildings, modern culture should be reflected by modern buildings. If all the new buildings are built in traditional styles, the modern culture may be lost in the city. Secondly, the style of the new building should be decided by a lot of factors such as location, function, and so on. For instance, it is impossible for us to build a modern shopping mall into traditional style, because there are a lot of famous brands inside. Thirdly, modern buildings can accommodate more people than traditional buildings, which can meet the increasing population.
Therefore, I agree that we should build some old buildings, but we should not build all the buildings into traditional styles. We should consider a lot of aspects before we make the final decision.
A checklist for part 1 graphs, charts and tables
In task 1 it is important that you accurately describe the information from the diagram so you don’t lose marks under Task Response. The difficulty is to decide what is the key information as there is often a lot of data to process. One way of thinking about this, is to ask yourself if someone could draw the chart and graph from the information in your report. This is not easy to do and so to help you, you will find below a 8 point checklist, an exercise and a practice suggestion.
Wild animals have no place in the 21st century. Some people think that preventing these wild animals from dying out is a waste of resource. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion.
Biological diversity has never been so threatened as it is today as a result of the process of human civilization. The various forms of pressure created by human activity have destroyed natural balance, led to the deterioration of natural habitats, genetic erosion and the rarity, even disappearance, of a number of plant and animal species.
As the pace of civilization accelerates, more people, taking more space, needing to use more natural resources, engaging in ever-growing consumption, impose severe deterioration on the habitat of animals. An increasing number of people come to realize that the disappearance of animals will result in serious threat to the equilibrium of ecosystem. Simply put, the extinction of hawks, a rat-eating bird seen in many regions, will result in the rapid propagation of rats. And rats, further, will destroy the prairies and threaten the xxxer animals like gazelles, zebras and xxxers, who live on grass and green lands. The coexistence of animals and human beings creates perfect harmony and brings about the vividness to our planet.
It is hard to imagine what our world would be like without animals. Sociologists also point out that the disappearance of animals can cause social and economic problems. Animal trade, as a supporting sector to the world economy, was very active before. However, the situation is beyond control since animal trade is very profitable and alluring. Many species cannot escape the adversity of being killed.
Certainly, our diet cannot be without meat. There are living stocks, which can provide us with sufficient and nutritious produce. Therefore, we need not to resort to wild animals, especially the endangered ones. To protect animals is to protect our living environment. Every individual should join efforts to keep the diversity of animals.

The graph and table illustrate about worldwide water use by sector over a span of 100 years from 1900 to 2000and water consumption in Brazil and Congo in 2000.
As can be seen from the graph, global water use in three different sectors, namely, agriculture, industry and household clearly reveals two trends in the past century: slow increaseand fast increase. Comparing figures of the two sampled countries, we see that the differencesbetween Brazil and Congo were just huge.
Firstly, 1900-1950 was a trend of increase. Agricultural water use gradually increased fromthe original 500,000 cubic meters to 1,000,000 cubic meters in 1950. That of industrial andhousehold use remained almost unchanged, only rising from almost zero in 1900 to 500 cubicmeters and 200 cubic meters respectively in 1950.
Secondly, around 1950, agricultural water use entered a period of substantial increase, jumping from 1,000,000 cubic meters to 1,500,000 cubic meters in 1960. Afterwards, theincrease slowed down slightly, but then gained even stronger momentum and by 2000, it hadreached 3,000,000 cubic meters. After 1950, industrial water use also began to increasegreatly, arriving at 800,000 cubic meters in 1985. Then it continued to increase at an evenbigger rate and reached 1,200,000 cubic meters in 2000. Household water consumption startedto increase a little bit faster between 1950-1970, rising from 200 cubic meters to 400 cubicmeters, then the increase accelerated and quickly climbed to 300,000 cubic meters in 2000.
Thirdly, from the table, we see the huge disparities between Brazil and Congo inpopulation, irrigated land area and the average water consumption per person. Thepopulation of Brazil was over 170 million more than that of Congo, its irrigated land area was265 times that of Congo, and its average water consumption per person was almost 45 timesthat of Congo.
All in all, after having analyzed the graph and the table, we may safely draw the conclusionthat water is playing an increasingly important role in every aspect of our lives and that thewater consumption gap between the two sampled countries indicates that the more developed acountry is, the more water it will consume.

Writing Task 2
1) 题目和问题-要认清题目的要求和找出题目中想问的问题;
2) 介绍-这是用来表达文章的大意,如果要写的是一篇评论文,笔者的方向也要在这里表达出来;
3) 主体-如主体分为三段的话,通常前两段是观点和理由,后一段是用来平衡讨论的相反观点;
(Introduction)
(Body)
与介绍文一样,主体文每段的第一句都是用来说明整段的大意,之后的内容可用连接词(如However, Although, Notonly, Also, Even though, Consequently, In addition等等)或顺序词(Firstly, Secondly, Thirdly ...)
Many people…
Others…
Those who disagree believe that ... / may argue that ... /point out that ...
However, I strongly disagree ...
Nxxxing could be further from the truth (Strongdisagreement) because ...
In fact, ...
... for the following reasons: I find it hard to agree...
Nevertheless, I cannot agree ... (Mild disagreement)
Perhaps this is true, but it cannot be denied that ...
This is partly true, then again ... (C)
(Conclusion)
(In general, To sum up, Toconclude, In conclusion等等)来串联整段。
比如:很多人用for example,for instance来举例,其实你可以用according to the lastest research,或like Prof..x said in University of NewYork:..x… 而书上模板往往让你背的是:for example,on the xxxer hand等等。
Even if machine translation were able to eradicate all the language barriers between peoples, learning foreign languages still make sense.
Even if machine translation were able to eradicate all the language barriers between people, would there be no point in learning foreign languages? By no means.
雅思大作文:drug companies have the responsibility to help the poorer countries
Some people say that drug companies have the responsibility to spend money on researching medicine to help the poorer countries, xxxers think the main responsibility of drug companies is making money. Discuss bxxx sides and give your opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
作文xxx:
Nowadays, people attach more importance on health due to the increase of the cost on treatment. Whether the medical companies should take some social responsibility has raised a fierce discussion in the society, for which I reckon the answer is yes.
It is obvious that, in some cases, companies especially the national or multinational enterprises play as an leader not only in promoting the local economy, but also the spiritual aspect, where their intangible impact comes from, and that is more significant for medical industry, because the area is close to the public’s life. Such corporations have the ability, including distributing the fund and technology, to put more efforts in improving health for the poverty who can be beneficial immediately, so that it is efficient to improve the healthy level among the whole society. At the same time, following the action, the positive reputation can be achieved, which could be effective to enlarge their influence within the citizens who would take the priority over xxxer brand.
However, the nature for the companies is to get more profits, which cannot be overlooked by xxxer purposes, and the more money they earn, the more contribution they can make for the economy of the society. Meanwhile, the expenditure invested in the research and development of new drugs is enormous; if the profits are not guaranteed, the future of their career could be threatened, as well as the incomes for the employees, the consequence and the burden of which would be more serious especially when the companies are small-scaled.
In conclusion, although the difficulties and worries are looming in front all the medical corporations, it is worth taking the responsibility of creating a better living environment for the community where they are located to achieve a long-term win-win situation.
雅思大作文:it is important for all children to learn history
Some people think it is important for all children to learn history in school. Others believe that xxxer subjects are more relevant to children’s lives today. Discuss bxxx views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
作文xxx:
In the contemporary society, the public’s sight focus on the future development, while history has been a mystery area which people can find only in the museum; as a result, there is a suggestion that all the schoolchildren should learn history as a compulsory course, but the influence brought by xxxer subjects cannot be ignored.
Undeniably, although it seems that history is far from people’s life, especially for the young generation who have limited understanding of the meaning of history, it helps us identify who we are and where we are from, which is regarded as the root in many traditional cultures. Besides, history always contains a variety of knowledge, ranging from literature to science; as long as the children start and have access to history, they could gain the sense of appreciating the wisdom of the ancestors and cultivate the interest in certain academic fields, benefiting for the future development.
On the xxxer hand, shaping these offspring to be the talents for a country cannot only rely on the humane study; science and xxxer practical skills would be more effective to explore their potential and train the critical thinking. By taking the personality into consideration among such generation, it is acceptable that the significance of current curriculum is to connect the content with the reality, since the advent of high technology plays an influential role, and to work in the relative industries would be the prime option while making decision of career.
In conclusion, the advantages of these two kinds of subjects are not overwhelming, which means that the combination of all the development could create the most efficient blue print in educating the descendants to be outstanding in bxxx academic performance and personal identity.
News media have become influential to our lives, and some people think that is a negative development. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, the expanding influence of news media on the society has been a heated social issue in debate. Some believe this trend is negative because the media controls minds of the public. Personally, I partially agree with this view, and my reasons will be explored as below.
The most worrying aspect of new media is that it overwhelms people’s daily lives. Actually, our lives of today are news-oriented, because of the 24-hour nonstop news cycles on TV, radio and Internet. Under such news bombardment, the information overload takes place, which means people’s attentions and minds have to be glued to focusing on and interpreting endless news, comments, gossips and rumors, necessary and unnecessary, no matter where they are, in workplaces, schools, buses or homes. As a result, news media is a huge distraction, which makes people exhausted and reduces their concentration and energy on their tasks or families.
Anxxxer big concern of news media is about its roles in manipulating people’s thoughts. Psychologically speaking, watching news media is a strong process of washing brain, in which the personal judgments of individual viewers might be removed and replaced with the media-established ideas. For example, for the purpose of politics, many influential newspapers, TV programs and online websites disclose the foibles of privacy, and even deliberately fabricate false rumors, scandals to diminish some political candidates in an election. Obviously, the cheatings and lies on news media are detrimental to the social equity and democracy, because they keep voters from thinking freely and independently.
However, the positive impact news media bring to our lives can never be ignored. In fact, the exposure to these news and reports can give the audience valuable messages and suggestions in day-to-day life. For example, the information about forecasts of weather and traffic situations in rush hours on regional newspapers or radio channels can instruct local residents to make proper schedules, plans and routers for travelling outside. In addition, reports about pressing social problems like epidemics, natural disasters, violence and crimes in streets also help to arouse the public’s awareness of the importance of improving education and health care systems, as well as the necessity of saving environment.
In conclusion, the demerits caused by news media override its benefits for the public. Although it can provide useful and practical information to the audience, it influences people in more negative ways, including an unbalanced life due to addiction in news, as well as the misunderstanding about social issues.
雅思考试写作xxx:my favourite magazine
What`s your favorite magazine? Mine is easily teen vogue (even though I also subscribe to Lucky, seventeen and instyle). I love love love their fashion spreads, celebrity interviews, articles and just the whole thing. It`s a treat to get in the mail each month. On a different note I`m very interested in signing up for WWD (women`s wear daily) it`s a fashion newspaper that`s delivered to your house 5 times a week (it`s not like a magazine though, it covers the busniess aspect of fashion). It sounds really cool.
To be honest, my first magazine was probably Highlights, a kids magazine that taught me about animals and letters and seemed to always have a hot air balloon, or something of the sort, on the cover. From there, I moved on to whatever my mom kept in the bathroom, primarily Reader's Digest, which sucked me in with its “Drama in Real Life” feature and the jokes used as space-fillers after articles. As I grew older and had my choice in magazines, I began reading RELEVANT magazine, GOOD, Paste magazine and Real Simple.
After reading plenty of national magazines and working for local ones, my consistent favorite is Real Simple magazine. It's simple. Really. Every time I get it in the mail, it sits on our kitchen table for a couple of days before I have time to even open it, and I just admire the cover. I can't think of anxxxer magazine with the ability to make me giddy month after month just by gazing at that cover. Maybe it's a vintage chair by a hanging red dress in a perfectly organized closet. Perhaps it's a shoe–just one shoe–and a handbag. Whatever it may display on a given month, the cover of Real Simple is always stunning.
And it doesn't end there. Once I'm thoroughly entranced by the front and finished impatiently waiting for an available moment, I actually get to enjoy the magazine cover-to-cover. I love the tidbits and tips that make me smile and then make my life a little easier. Really? I can store my jewelry in an ice cube tray? I can take a scratch out of a wood floor by rubbing a walnut over it, releasing its natural oils? Thank you, Real Simple. Thank you very much.
Environmental protection is no doubt a major issue confronting the modern society with the development of new technologies and the explosion of world population. While the issue is certainly relevant to each individual citizen and all the companies, some people contend that only the government should be concerned about protecting the environment. I concede that the government should lead the efforts in addressing the environmental problems. Nevertheless, cooperation and participation from the corporations and individual citizens are essential as well.
There is no doubt that the government is the agency that should play the leading roles in solving the environmental problems. To begin with, with the power to collect taxes from individual citizens and private companies, the government have the financial resources that are necessary to deal with environmental issues. In addition, the government may formulate policies to provide incentives for the companies and individuals to reduce the amount of pollution caused by their activities. Finally, the government is the only institution that may enact laws related to environmental problems.
On the xxxer hand, without the cooperation and participation of individual citizens and private companies, the government's efforts to protect the environment would not be effective. For example, the government may launch a campaign to educate the public about the desirability of driving compact cars for reducing the air pollution. The campaign would make little difference if the individuals pay little attention to the information or do not care about the environment at all. Nor would the government's goal be achieved if the car manufacturers do not produce more compact cars for the market. In xxxer words, the government alone cannot solve the problem of environment. It takes the collaborative efforts from individual and corporate citizens to improve the situation.
In conclusion, I agree that the government should take the responsibility to lead the society in addressing the problems of environmental pollution as it has the power and resources necessary to do so. Nonetheless, individual citizens and private companies have to be engaged if the government is to accomplish anything.
雅思考试写作xxx:The media report crimes in details
Nowadays the media often cover news of crimes such as murder, rape and armed robbery in great details. While such information may warn the public of the potential danger and help reduce crimes, providing too much information about crimes might lead to certain negative side effects. In my opinion, the information about crimes should be made accessible to the public but the media should refrain from reporting crimes in an irresponsible manner.
To begin with, there is no doubt that people should have the right to information about crimes committed in a community. If someone in the neighbourhood were murdered, the chance of xxxer people being killed would also increase. The people should be notified of the event as well as any actions the authorities had taken immediately. Any attempts to block the news about the crimes would violate people's right to know the truth. Yet, the necessity of informing the public does not mean full details have to be disclosed.
Admittedly, the best way to alert the public about a recent crime being committed is through the reporting by the media. Most of us read newspaper and watch TV news everyday. But there are a number of reasons why the media should only report the crimes briefly and let any interested parties follow up with the events by themselves. To begin with, the details of the crimes may cause discomfort and even panic among the members of the public. This is particularly true for the young children in the society. In addition, the time on TV and the space on the newspaper are scarce resources that can be utilized in many different ways. Therefore, the detailed reporting of the crimes would incur high opportunity costs as the public attention would have been directed to xxxer important issues such as education and environment. Finally, the full information about crimes may be made available through the police or xxxer government agencies so that anyone interested in the events may consult the records. Such arrangement would be less costly compared to reporting the details via the media.
In conclusion, since crimes are relevant to each and every member of the society, the media should report the events as soon as possible to alert the public and to help prevent more crimes. Nevertheless, the reports of crimes should be relatively brief in order to avoid public panic and to save the precious TV time and newspaper space. Furthermore, anyone who wants to know more about certain events should be allowed to consult the government agencies for such
雅思考试写作xxx:Major influence on your personality
Today the way we consider human psychology and mental development is heavily influenced by the genetic sciences. We now understand the importance of inhereited characteristics more than ever before. Yet we are still unable to decide whether an individual's personality and development are more influenced by genetic factors (nature) or by the envrionment (nurture).
Research, relating to identical twins, has highlighted how significant inherited characteristics can be for an individual's life. But whether these characteristics are able to develop within the personality of an individual surely depends on whether the circumstances allow such a development. it seems that the experiences we have in life are so unpredictable and so powerful, that they can boost or over-ride xxxer influences, and there seems to be plenty of research findings to confirm this.
My own view is that there is no one major influence in a person's life. Instead, the traits, we inherit from our parents and the situations and experiences we have in life are constantly interacting. It is the interacting of the two that shapes a person's personality and dictates how that personality develops. If this were not true, then we would be able to predict the behaviour and character of a person from the moment they were born.
In conclusion, I do not think that either nature or nurture is the major influence on a person, but that bxxx have powerful effects. How these factors interact is still unknown today and they remain largely unpredictable in a person's life.
Task:To improve the quality of education, people think that we should encourage our students to evaluate and criticize their teachers. Others believe that it will result in a loss of respect and discipline in the classroom. Discuss bxxx views and give your own opinion.
Sample answer:
Nowadays, whether evaluating and criticising teachers should be supported in the classroom has become a controversial issue. From my perspective, evaluation and criticism of teachers are necessary for the improvement of education if they are objective and reasonable.
On the one hand, proposing changes to teachers’ lesson content contributes to the improvement of teaching quality. Usually, it is difficult for teachers to realise the mistakes and slips in their teaching unless students remind them. Additionally, teachers may not clearly know what students have known and want to know when planning their lessons. If students can put forward their ideas and suggestions towards the lesson, it will be of great help for teachers to upgrade the teaching projects. Moreover, trying to evaluate teachers’ lesson is particularly beneficial for students’ academic and career development in the future. The modern education emphasises criticism and innovation. Undoubtedly, it is an effective way for students to debate or discuss with teachers.
On the xxxer hand, the disruptive students will probably disturb the class and negatively affect bxxx teaching and learning outcomes. When students voice their opinions in the classroom, it will be hard to maintain the order and discipline and the teachers may feel disrespected. Also, students will suffer a loss in terms of knowledge and xxxer learning content. This is because teachers always devote much to delivering knowledge and explaining theories. If they are disrupted, the teaching plan may not be able to be fulfilled. As a result, bxxx teachers and students have to face a loss in the quality of education.
To sum up, it can be recommended that students evaluate and criticise teachers in the classroom on the premise that they have decent manners without disturbing the learning atmosphere. Only in this way will teachers and students achieve a win-win outcome in education.

Task:Some working parents believe childcare centers can provide best care for their children, while xxxers think of xxxer family members like grandparents can do this job. Discuss bxxx views and give your own opinion.
Sample answer:
Traditionally, toddlers are raised by their relatives such as grandparents in most countries. However, daycare centers have gained a growing popularity among working parents in recent years. From my point of view, attending a childcare center has more benefits.
One obvious argument in favor of daycare centers is that it provides children with the professional childhood education. This is because a good daycare centre is normally equipped with well-trained staff who can impart different skills, such as singing, dancing, painting and storytelling, to children through a variety of activities during the day. In addition to the well-organised, structured projects, toddlers are provided with more opportunities to socialize with xxxer peers, which helps them gain confidence and self-consicousness. However, these opportunities are rare to achieve if they are watched over by grandparents.
Opponents feel that a relative care is as effective as children center. The reason for this is that taking care of a child is never an easy task, as children need constant love and attention. In fact, due to the limited number of caregivers, children are less likely to get the one-on-one care. By contrast, relatives, grandparents in particular, have sufficient time to take care of their beloved grandchildren, which also contributes to the family bond.
I personally believe that no child can become an active and valuable member of any society without intercommunicating with xxxer peers. Therefore, although there are conniving arguments for a relative care, it is better to send them into daycare centers in the childhood period.

There is nxxxing unusual about energy like coals and oils being consumed, principally because economic development depends on natural resources all the time. But what is happening today is extraordinary judged by the standards of the past. It is energy depletion on a massive scale and this problem is so knotty that should deserve our closer heed.
Amongst the diverse factors contributing to the energy crises around the world, government’s short-sighted policies and citizens’ extravagant use of automobiles are probably the two most significant ones. By presuming on their natural resources, quite a few countries, especially developing ones, are eager to develop their economy in order to gain an edge over their rivals. Admittedly, their intensive use of the energy facilitates, to some extent, the developments of xxxer industries in short term. Additionally, the amount of private cars increases at such a breakneck speed that the petroleum used amounts to an intimidating proportion of the natural resources.
The consequences are undoubtedly disastrous for human beings. Although countries can boast their growth of GDP, their citizens have to endure the ever deteriorated environment with stinking gas belching from factories and vehicles, polluted water due to fuels infiltrating underground, even ultraviolet radiation in the absence of ozone layer and, therefore, their quality of life is by no means improved. Also, sustainable development can never come into true in this situation, meaning that our descendants can benefit nxxxing except sterile land and polluted air and water from their ancestors.
Therefore, our government must take serious steps to attack those problems. The first and foremost is that governments have to reverse their mindset and no longer deem the growth of GDP their first goal. Rather, the betterment of citizens’ quality of life should deserve more attention than the economic growth. Furthermore, the use of private cars should be discouraged by authorities, who must shoulder the responsibility of improving public transportation in order to facilitate people as well as release the burden of energy consumption.

Nowadays there is more and more TV advertisement, and there is a lot of misinformation in some of these people think that consumers have the right to know the correct information and that government should restrict the contents of these is your opinion?
No one can avoid being influenced by advertisements and advertising exerts a tremendous influence on are people who are of the opinion that public has the right to know the correct information of the advertisements and government also should restrict the contents of these I agree with this opinion for the following reasons.
In the first instance, consumers have the right to know the correct information before deciding on whether to buy are highly information that helps people to make choice before they go to buy what they the advertisement exaggerates the products it also will persuade people into buying things, which they don't really want.
Secondly, any misleading advertisements will lead to the marketing tricks, causing chaos in the many misleading advertisements are barrio to distinguishing between decent products or products of bad bread in truth is made with soy flour, while he advertises it as white misleading information causes illegal competition.
Last but not least, government should stipulate laws in consumers' to the laws, advertisements must be the advertisements mislead consumers, government can impose great fine on them to set a lesson.
In general, the role of advertisements is inevitable and good advertisement can be a bridge between business and consumers and helps keep business we need correct information and government also needs to restrict the contents of misinformation of advertisements be far away from us.
There is no doubt that helping students find a job is one of the primary functions of university education, but universities do exist for xxxer purposes such as improving students’ analytical skills and raising students’ moral standards.
A university education can be seen as a process of improving students’ analytical thinking. The variety of courses offered at university inspires students in various ways, therefore improving their analytical ability. For example, science courses such as math and biology help students develop a rational way of thinking whereas arts courses such as literature 123ve to let students ponder over issues from a logical, multi- dimensional perspective; and courses in social sciences force students to recognize the ideas that have been traditionally assumed to be acceptable and unproblematic. With the development of these types of analytical thinking, graduates can face future challenges with more confidence and enthusiasm.
Also, university education is expected to improve students’ moral standards. This is rooted in universities’ belief that students’ awar123ss of responsibility towards their community and their country is of high importance. In this ever-deg123rating society and civilization, students are encouraged actively participate in improving the local community. A university that provides care and facilities for physically disadvantaged students may inspire the graduates to better handle situations in the future where they may have to interact with the disabled community. A successful university education is supposed to produce morally sound graduates, therefore increasing their employability.
In conclusion, university education not only helps students locate a decent job but will also develop xxxer qualities such as enhancing their analytical skills and cultivating their hunger and spirit for life.

题目:
Air transport is increasingly used to export types of fruits and vegetables to countries where those plants can’t grow or out of season. Some say it is a good thing, but xxxers consider this use of air transport can’t be justified. Discuss bxxx views and give your own opinion
xxx:
Air transport is commonly used to move fruits and vegetables to places where those farm products can’t grow or are out of season. The benefits of such business are obvious, but air transport also creates a number of problems.
Transport of fruits and vegetables by air enables consumers to enjoy a wider variety of fresh and in-season farm products from all over the world. Not only is air transport good for consumers, it is also a blessing for farmers because the market is no longer restricted by regions. As a result, air transport increases the sale volume by selling more products in more places.
Moreover, air transport of food has now become a major resource of incomes for air companies. In the past, air companies’ business mainly came from serving passengers. However, facing an increasingly tough market, air companies need to expand their share of market to serve a wider range of customers in order to stay in the game and make a profit. With a booming economy and more money to spend, people create a great potential for food transport business and good margin for air companies.
In spite of such benefits, air transport is not free of problems. One major issue is high cost. Air transport is probably the most expensive way of transport. Higher costs entail high prices, which in turn deprive people with less money the opportunities to enjoy such privileges. So air transported food is now for the rich, a fact that is unfair for poor people.
In addition, it is not the best option to solve problems by transporting food from outside for places where certain kinds of fruits does not grow. The most optimal way, it seems to me, is that we should change the environment required by such plants using scientific and biological methods such as creating suitable soil and temperature. Such solutions will be proven to be ultimately cost-effective and fundamental.
More importantly, research indicates that air transport pollutes the environment. For example, Britain transports half its food by air. However one kilo New Zealand fruit emits five kilo warm house gas on its way to destination. Therefore, some environmental groups and books advocate people to distinguish local fruit and air-transported fruit in an effort to cut the pollution from food consumption.
In conclusion, air transport has many benefits for consumers and farmers, but it also has problems such as high cost and pollution. More effective and environmental friendly solution should be found to address such problems.
The government should control the amount of violence in films and on television in order to decrease the violent crimes in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this issue?
It is widely acknowledged that the amount of violence in films and on TV is one of the direct causes that lead to our high crime rate in our society. The voice of demanding the government to control violent scenes in media has been much louder than before. Personally, I totally agree with this voice, for it is the most effective way to reduce violent crimes in the real world.
First and foremost, violence on TV or in films is often portrayed as extreme as possible in order to attract audiences. This will definitely set a bad example for those immature audiences, who, lacking correct parental guidance, are most likely to copy the violent behaviours and commit real violent crimes.
Next, media, such as TV or film, is considered as the correct information source regulated by the government. It should be reporting and reflecting true phenomena in the society. Violence, as one of the facts in the real world, certainly has to be reported. However, excessive violence is offering misleading information to the public, which will exert detrimental influence to the society. For example, teenagers will regard those killers and murderers in the films and on TV as role models and copy their behaviours. It is recently reported in the news that a seventeen-year-old killed all his family members, one sister and two parents out of hatred and jealousy. In the real world, we are often reminded of the harm and hurt that violence in fictional world has brought us.
In a word, our society is preoccupied by the violent scenes and plots at present. What the government has to do immediately is to take effective measures to control the amount of violence in media. Only in this way, can our society enjoy high level of security and peace.

St can education bring us? Is “high mark” the real destiny of education? As researchers and scholars are investigating this subject, the accurate definition of education begins to have slight difference from what was in people‘s mind before. 题目:
In many cities the use of video cameras in public places is being increased in order to reduce crime, but some people believe that these measures restrict our individual freedom.
Do the benefits of increased security outweigh the drawbacks?
xxx:
It is true that video surveillance has become commonplace in many cities in recent years. While I understand that critics may see this as an invasion of privacy, I believe that the benefits do outweigh the drawbacks.
There are two main reasons why people might disapprove of the use of video cameras in public places. The first objection is that these cameras invade our privacy, in the sense that we are constantly being watched by the authorities or by private security firms. Many people find this intrusive and feel that the recording of their movements is a form of state control that curtails their individual freedom. The second argument against the proliferation of CCTV cameras is that they are being used as an alternative to police officers patrolling the streets. If this is indeed happening, then it is unlikely that members of the public will feel safer.
In spite of the drawbacks mentioned above, I believe that the use of video cameras to monitor public areas is a positive measure. The key objective of video surveillance is to deter criminals and to prevent crime. For example, petty criminals like shoplifters and pickpockets are less likely to operate in parts of cities where they know that they are being watched. At the same time, when crimes are committed, the police can use video evidence to catch and prosecute offenders. Therefore, in my view, video cameras offer valuable support to police officers, and they make cities safer for inhabitants, workers and visitors alike.
In conclusion, it seems to me that we gain more than we lose from the enhanced security that CCTV cameras bring to our cities.
Some people think that employers should not care about the way their employees dress, because what matters is the quality of their work. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In the modern workplace, dress codes are changing as employers focus more on results than on the rules that employees must follow. While I agree that the way people dress should be seen as irrelevant in many work contexts, I believe that dress codes still exist for good reason in certain professions.
On the one hand, many employers have stopped telling their staff how to dress, and I see this as a positive trend. Some of the most successful companies in the world, including technology giants like Google and Facebook, are famous for the relaxed office environments that they try to create. Employees are encouraged to dress casually, and even the company executives and leaders are rarely seen wearing anything xxxer than T-shirts and jeans. However, while managers and programmers are free to dress how they like, they are expected to produce work of outstanding quality. It is clear from the performance and global dominance of such companies that strict dress codes are completely unnecessary in the technology sector.
However, I would also argue that rules regarding employees' clxxxing are still relevant in xxxer work situations. We expect certain professionals, such as nurses, police officers and airline pilots, to wear uniforms. These uniforms may have a practical or safety function, but perhaps more importantly they identify the person’s position or role in society. Similarly, a lawyer, politician or school principal may choose to wear formal clxxxing in order to portray an image of authority, trustworthiness and diligence. I believe that most of us prefer to see these professionals in smart, formal attire, even if it is not strictly necessary.
In conclusion, I support the trend towards relaxed dress codes for workers, but I do not see it as applicable to all occupations or sectors of the economy.

IELTS Writing Task 1: process diagram
The diagram below shows how solar panels can be used to provide electricity for domestic use.
The picture illustrates the process of producing electricity in a home using solar panels.
It is clear that there are five distinct stages in this process, beginning with the capture of energy from sunlight. The final two steps show how domestic electricity is connected to the external power supply.
At the first stage in the process, solar panels on the roof of a normal house take energy from the sun and convert it into DC current. Next, this current is passed to an inverter, which changes it to AC current and regulates the supply of electricity. At stage three, electricity is supplied to the home from an electrical panel.
At the fourth step shown on the diagram, a utility meter in the home is responsible for sending any extra electric power outside the house into the grid. Finally, if the solar panels do not provide enough energy for the household, electricity will flow from the utility grid into the home through the meter.
Note:
I've underlined examples of the two language features that make process diagram descriptions special: 'steps' language, and passive verbs.

题目:In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing. What problems will this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that could be taken to reduce the impact of ageing populations.
xxx:
Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
xxx:
In my opinion, men and women should have the same educational opportunities. However, I do not agree with the idea of accepting equal proportions of each gender in every university subject.
Having the same number of men and women on all degree courses is simply unrealistic. Student numbers on any course depend on the applications that the institution receives. If a university decided to fill courses with equal numbers of males and females, it would need enough applicants of each gender. In reality, many courses are more popular with one gender than the xxxer, and it would not be practical to aim for equal proportions. For example, nursing courses tend to attract more female applicants, and it would be difficult to fill these courses if fifty per cent of the places needed to go to males.
Apart from the practical concerns expressed above, I also believe that it would be unfair to base admission to university courses on gender. Universities should continue to select the best candidates for each course according to their qualifications. In this way, bxxx men and women have the same opportunities, and applicants know that they will be successful if they work hard to achieve good grades at school. If a female student is the best candidate for a place on a course, it is surely wrong to reject her in favour of a male student with lower grades or fewer qualifications.
In conclusion, the selection of university students should be based on merit, and it would be bxxx impractical and unfair to change to a selection procedure based on gender.

The government should control the amount of violence in films and on elevision in order to decrease the violent crimes in society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this issue?
Whether the government should control the amount of violence in films and on television in order to decrease the violent crimes in society involves a conflict between our right of free speech and the duty of the government to protect its citizenry from potential harm. In my view, our societal nterest in preventing the harm that exposure to violence produces takes recedence over the rights of individuals to broadcast this type of content.
First of all, I believe that exposure to violence does indeed cause similar behavior on the part of those who are exposed to it. Although we may not have conclusive scientific evidence of a cause-effect relationship, ample anecdotal evidence establishes a significant correlation. Moreover, bxxx common sense and our experiences with children inform us that people tend to mimic the behavior they are exposed to.
Secondly, I believe that violence is indeed harmful to a society. The harm it produces is, in my view, bxxx palpable and profound. For the individual, it has a debasing impact on vital human relationships; for the society, it promotes a tendency toward antisocial behavior. Bxxx outcomes, in turn, tear apart the social fabric that holds a society together.
Those who advocate unbridled individual expression might point out that the right of free speech is intrinsic to a democracy and necessary to its urvival. Even so, this right is not absolute, nor is it the most critical element. In my assessment, the interests served by restricting violence in broadcast media are, on balance, more crucial to the survival of a society.
In sum, it is in our best interest as a society for the government to censor broadcast media for violence. Exposure to such media content tends to harm society and its citizenry in ways that are worth preventing, even in light of the resulting infringement of our right of free expression.

Some people believe that it is beneficial for children to spend time on TV, video and PC games, while some hold the opposite view. Talk about these two views and give your own opinion.
When it comes to whether children shall spend their spare time watching TV, video and playing PC games, people’s opinions diverse greatly. Some say it is basically a waste of children’s time, while xxxers argue that children can benefit a lot from such activities.
It is firmly maintained by many parents and teachers that children’s main purpose is to pursue outstanding academic achievements at school. To beat their competitors, they must make the best use of every precious minute. Therefore, they can not afford to indulge themselves before the “idiot box” as TV or in playing the senseless virtual games. Moreover, watching TV and playing PC games are addictive for many poorly-disciplined children, consuming their interest in study and eroding their academic aspirations.
However, many xxxer people hold different views, arguing that if properly guided and supervised, children can expand vision and knowledge as well as foster their creativity from those fun activities. There are many educational programs on TV such as Discovery which feed children extensive knowledge in science and arts. By sparking children’s interest and imagination in various topics, these programs are often more enlightening than textbooks. Furthermore, when playing PC games, children can foster a stronger sense of cooperation as well as competition, and sharpening their mind against possible risks in the real world. Last but not least, watching cartoons and science fiction movies definitely stimulates children’s imagination and creativity. Many youngsters have been inspired to come up with novel inventions of become engineering elites in later life exactly with the inspirations from those sources.
From the above discussion, it is evident that if children can balance their study and fun time properly, watching TV, video programs and playing PC games will unquestionably bring them more benefits than harm. After all, books are not the only source of useful knowledge; in order to grow healthily in modern times, children need to accumulate knowledge and skills from various channels, and suitable time for relaxation and inspiration is surely more welcome than not.

Some people think that university should not provide theoretical knowledge, but to give practical training that is beneficial to society.
Do you agree or disagree?
The current hot issues concerning higher education include the one of whether university should provide theoretical knowledge or practical training. In my opinion, this issue is closely related to the different aims of different universities and the needs of the economic development of the respective country.
As we know, university education gives a student a better appreciation of such fields as art, literature, history, science, and human relations. Therefore, it is necessary for the university to provide theoretical knowledge for those students who intend to receive liberal education.
Most universities also have professional colleges that prepare students for careers, such as teachers colleges, agricultural or dental colleges. These colleges, apart from offering some liberal arts courses, usually allocate a certain period of time for professional training. For example, a student at teachers college usually takes a field training at a high school as a student teacher for two or three months.
Anxxxer important factor on this issue is the needs of the economic development of a respective county. For instance, in China, a great number of advanced professional personnel are needed to keep the pace with the rapid economic development. Therefore, cooperative education that combines classroom studies with practical work experience is more appropriate an education China needs at the present time.
In a word, how much emphasis that should be laid on theoretical knowledge or practical training is determined by the needs of the economy of a respective country and the needs of all-round personnel for a democratic society.

Schools are places where students acquire knowledge and skills needed for further achievements. Given the pressure that students are facing, some cannot help wondering whether art classes should still be compulsory.
Those holding the view that art classes should not be compulsory might think that art consumes too much of students' time. Fierce competitions students will face When applying for universities necessitate total devotion to academic subjects. College students who intend to take science as their major are even expected to be fluent in foreign languages now so that essays written by foreign scholars are not barriers in their academic pursuit. In xxxer words, high school students are supposed to show higher levels of academic competence, which seemingly makes art unessential.
However, art classes are by no means only intended for entertainment. Children even dabbling in art tend to be more creative in mind. Those skilled in music or painting can interpret the world in a way that we cannot expect from a layman. This kind of ingenuity is also a rare quality constantly found in great scientists, whose contributions have served to create a totally new field for the latter generations. In his reply to a question about death, Albert Einstein considered his departure from the mortal world to be forever farewell to anxxxer great musician. With a sigh he answered _I cannot listen to Mozart anymore_. Thus, can we simply regard art classes to be selective?
In conclusion, although stricter academic requirements are imposed on students, this cannot be an excuse for excluding art subjects from their curricula. Whatever kind of art can stimulate and inspire students, paving way for their future academic attainment.

Write about the following topic:
As mass communication and transport continue to grow, societies are becoming more and more alike leading to a phenomenon known as globalization. Some people fear that globalization will inevitably lead to the total loss of cultural identity.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Model Answer:
Globalization means that in some ways people around the world are becoming more and more similar. We often eat the same food, watch the same TV programmes, listen to the same music and we wear the same clxxxes. Some of this at least can be blamed on the spread of multinational brands available all over the world.
On the surface, it may appear as if the global diversity of cultural identities is being lost. If, the argument goes, people in Tokyo and London look and dress the same, then that must mean that cultural differences are disappearing. However, I would argue that this is a very narrow definition of culture and that in fact cultural differences are as present as ever.
Cultural Identity is built on far more than just the films we watch or the jeans we wear. The foundation of cultural identity is shared values. When you look in detail at different cultures, you realize that the things that are important to one culture can be very different from the things valued by anxxxer culture.
Take my own culture, India, as an example and compare it to a very different culture, Japan. Although I have never visited Japan personally, I believe that it is a culture which places a lot of value on hard work and that people often work very long hours. The Indian people, in contrast, greatly value their leisure time and strive to spend as much lime with their family as they possibly can. Even if we consume the same products, I would argue that there are still some very deep-rooted differences.
To summarize, I do not accept that that total loss of cultural identity is inevitable, despite the influence of large companies and their products around the globe.

Random Thoughts on the Window
By Qian Zhongshu
It is spring again and the window can be left open as often as one would like. As spring comes in through the windows, so people -- unable to bear staying inside any longer -- go outdoors.
The spring outside, however, is much too cheap, for the sun shines on everything, and so does not seem as bright as that which shoots into the darkness of the house. Outside the sun-sloshed breeze blows everywhere, but it is not so lively as that which stirs the gloominess inside the house.
Even the chirping of the birds sounds so thin and broken that the quietness of the house is needed to set it off. It seems that spring was always meant to be put behind a windowpane for show, just like a picture in a frame.
At the same time it also becomes clear that the door has a different significance from the window. Of course, doors were made for people to pass through; but a window can also sometimes serve as an entrance or as an exit, and is used as such by thieves and by lovers in novels.
In fact the fundamental difference between a door and a window has nxxxing to do with them being either entrances or exits. When it comes to the admiration of spring, it could be put this way: a door makes it possible for one to go out, whereas a window makes it possible for one not to have to.
A window helps to pull down the partition between man and nature. It leads breezes and sunlight in, and keeps part of the spring in the house. It allows one to sit and enjoy the spring in peace, and makes it unnecessary to go looking for it outside.
